Our mission
Divine Mercy Catholic School will have an educational philosophy that is faithful to the Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church and concerned with the academic, human, spiritual, and apostolic formation of its students.
Our story
In 2000, a growing number of parents with school-aged children were searching for a school which would challenge their children academically and nurture their Catholic values. Discouraged by the education system in place, they embarked on a journey which would, through meetings, discernment, dreaming and prayer, lead to the creation of Divine Mercy Catholic School.
In the Fall of 2003, Divine Mercy Catholic School opened its doors for the very first time and welcomed 24 students into their humble little two-classroom school.
The original founding parents rolled up their sleeves and took a very active role in the many, many needs of the humble school. Most of them served as the first DMCS Board of Directors and spent hours each month responding to the many needs of the school. From scrubbing toilets to finding benefactors and everything in between, this generous group of parents poured themselves into the needs of DMCS.
One of the original founders was Judy Burnham, the first Principal of DMCS and principal for over 20 years! She and many of the original families are involved in the school to this day. This continuity over the years has created a firm foundation on which the rest of the school has grown and flourished.
